Master cylinder seal 11/4/02 :: Sorry - this picture doesn't get any bigger. These are the metal pieces that fit onto the rubber seal that fits into the top of the master cylinder covers. The one on the left I worked very carefully with a dremel to remove the gunk... the one on the right is what they both looked like "before". They both came out pretty good - one of them is heavily pitted though so they are still on my want list.

Master cylinder parts 11/5/02 :: Finished cleaning up the brake master cylinder and Joe got the piston out. Here's all the pieces layed out in the order they fit. More cleaning to do on the inside - lots of gunk has built up on the piston (yes that's a technical term :-) And Joe got to make another "special tool" to help remove things. If you're brave you can write and ask Joe what it is! joe_rigg@yahoo.com.

Master cylinder reassembled 11/11/02 :: Finished overhauling and reassembling the brake master cylinder. Let it sit (filled with fluid) 24 hrs so far, and had no leaks! Hopefully we will not have to have the cylinder resleeved - this is a good sign. AND, we are waiting to receive a driver's side floor pan - it should be arriving this week!

Floor pans 11/20/02 :: Look at these lovely floorpans! Thanks to Norman Hart (and the S600 who donated them) we should have a much easier time rebuilding the bottom portion of the car... These need to be sandblasted and cleaned up but there's only ONE hole in them (that doesn't belong) compared to the MOSTLY holes our pans. We will be working on this little project over the weekend and then there's the 4 days off next week...
12/13/02 :: On Christmas break around here - too much cleaning, baking, buying and wrapping to be done.
Work Center 1/7/03 :: Finally - More work on the car! Joe pulled apart and overhauled the clutch master cylinder and it looks promising... Believe it or not we did the difficult one first :-).

We'll know more tomorrow when we have let it sit with fluid overnight. I got to spend a couple hours organizing my new work center... thanks to Joe and my mom I now have a very respectable looking setup!

3 drawer small box with my most commonly used stuff and a 5 drawer project center with removable work surface and more organizers under the top. Plus I now have a small TV in the garage so I can watch IRL in a few more weeks!
