Shined Up Carbs 10/10/02 :: This picture is for you Ron! I'm still working on cleaning up the carbs - all have had at least some attention now but I need to spend more time on the sides... they look awesome - go back to Page 2 and take a look at the "before" photo! I am still putting coats of poly on the wheel as well as scraping paint.

More Scraped Tub 10/10/02 :: Welcome to my world! There's just no good way to get to this area... I have more done but it's really going slow - about 10 minutes at a time of being a contortionist. It's really nice to see progress though. As soon as this is done we can really start on the floorpan project... making a mold of the clean sheet metal that still exists.

Joe is going to help me take out the heater this weekend as well as removing the pedals on the driver's side. We started that project today but had to postpone it to wait for the penetrating oil to do it's magic on a couple bolts. Looks like the accelerator pedal needs some TLC too.

More Scraped Tub 10/14/02 :: I finally got the pedals removed after playing "remove the bolts" and then "find the missing bolt" for 3 days. It was buried under heaps of pealed paint around the master cylinders. With the pedals removed it has been much easier to get to the paint in the firewall area and I am almost done with the drivers side.

If you can believe it, I am still putting coats of poly on the steering wheel. I thought I was done but the closer I get the more fussy I get. I sanded again yesterday and will probably put at least one more coat on tonight.

Removing Heater and Ducts 10/15/02 :: A rare action shot! Joe got the heater and vent out! What a huge pain in the butt. Don't tell Joe but Brian says that it's even harder to get it back in :-) Perhaps we will accidentally "lose" the heater between now and re-assembly... it WAS an option after all.

Today was a momentous occaision - I did NOT put any poly on the wheel! The cover is going on the wheel and it's getting stored away for awhile. Time for a new project.

Heater Removed 10/16/02 :: Well, I was completely wrong about it being easier to scrape the paint on the passenger side... every part I scrape seems to be harder than the last. Most of the work on the passenger side has to be done with my left hand which has alot less power and mobility than the right. I am *almost* done though - another hour tomorrow should do the trick!

Fuel Tank Removed 10/19/02 :: I'm sure you are almost as sick of seeing pictures of scraped paint as I am of seeing scraped paint, so I will simply say that I am DONE! Tomorrow we roll the car outside to wash off the tar residue and then we start making floor pan molds.

The fuel tank came back out too - it was removed at the Gathering last year so we could get it refurbished but we put it back in at the 02 Gathering so we could get the hang of it. The tank just needs some paint now to be all ready to go back into the repaired and repainted tub. I spent some time removing old seam sealer in the trunk area - scraping stuff is my life!
